Presentation
Singing is a form of protest.
What would the old music of the future sound like? Asks Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe, a lover of opera and ballet, the Flemish artist continues his fruitful and extravagant conversation with times and artworks. A Revue’s humanoids dig out a repertoire of songs and dances dating all the way back to the Middle Ages to create a striking futuristic-retro cabaret. Singers, instrumentalists, producers, dancers, performers, and visual artists draft up a new world where notions of time and gender barriers dissolve. Digging into music history, they look for the raw power of voice and body. Theater becomes a machine to go back in time, as nostalgic as it is revolutionary.
