Working closely with dancer Ana Pi and singer Bastien Picot, Bouziane Bouteldja explores our rapport with death and the intimate and universal issues related to it. Death – inescapable, ever-present and lifeless – is terrifying. Funerary rituals are in place to help us cope with it, collectively and individually, and to give meaning to this finitude.

By creating a non-spiritual ritual, shared beyond cultures, the Face à Terre trio takes us from death to life. They dig deep into the most archaic and bring us back to the present, to the delicateness of life, the importance of being and the desire to care for it. Composer Arnaud Vernet 'Le Naun' weaves the web of background music for these movements, incorporating sacred vocal music, hip hop and electro. Bodies, voices and sounds thus bind anxiety and appeasement, ending and beginning, in a formidable ode to life.
