Merce Cunningham was born in the United States in 1919. He was to become one of the greatest dancers and choreographers in the history of dance.
A hundred years later, and ten years after his death, the Paris Conservatoire, whose history was so often entwined with his own, is paying him a fitting tribute: one hundred dancers from the school are taking over the Grande Halle de La Villette to create a new Event, thus providing continuity to the series of unique performances that were one of the choreographer's hallmarks. An exclusive combination of excerpts from his pieces, music by John Cage performed live and a specific arrangement for the venue, Cunningham x 100 is an outstanding opportunity to discover his priceless legacy on a grand scale and to see it performed by a new generation of dancers.
