Former trader, Jerold Bradway is currently in prison - or what seems to be - overlooking a highway. Moving from a TV room to a football field, we notice other inmates playing. They also seem to have been powerful bankers, making fortune out of hedge funds, or art dealers who embezzled billions of dollars. They are stuck in loneliness, helpless, impotent like children or old men. The only option left is looking at the overview, remembering their lost lives, their departed fathers or the master paintings that used to hang at home. Written after the 2008 global economic crisis, this short story is much more than a diatribe against financial capitalism and its excess. It is also a reflection on loss and possession, on men’s vulnerability and need to bond... on the absence of hope.
