The very last creation of choreographer Ousmane Sy, One Shot is a 100% feminine, lively and modern ballet. An energizing moment of sharing and self-expression where collective and individualities answer to each other.

Eight dancers take up the stage of One Shot: members of Paradox-Sal, the company founded in 2012 by Ousmane Sy, and guests. The scenography provides a large space delimited by low practical levels whose yellow color answers the blue of costumes and the black of shadows. To the left, Sam One DJ plays a mix of house and afro-beats, powering a lively and rhythmic stage writing. House dance and hip-hop are its beating heart, but here Ousmane Sy introduces other practices and nuances, such as flamenco or locking. A double dialogue then unfolds in front of our eyes: between different styles but also between the group and its individualities. One Shot hence alternates ensemble figures and expressive solos whose energy and peculiarity end up overtaking the collective expression. Imagined in 2020 during lockdown, the work is a joyful and galvanizing manifest, a love letter to dancing.

This evening’s artists are supported by Initiatives d'Artistes en Danses Urbaines, a program co-founded by the Foundation de France and La Villette.
