This two-piece programme is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's fluid choreography in two ways, performed here by the Royal Flemish Ballet.
The first is freely adapted from the famous Afternoon of a Faun, created by Nijinski in 1912 to Debussy's music. Cherkaoui's fauna and nymph, both childish and archaic, wild and instinctive, are immersed here in a recomposed music that surreptitiously takes us from one style to another, from one culture to another, from one century to another.
Memento Mori ("Remember that you're going to die") is the last part of a trilogy created for the Ballets de Monte Carlo. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui enjoins us to look at death with a new eye every day, so that we do not allow ourselves to be locked in a passive fatality but on the contrary re-appropriate our reality every day.
