Ulysses is both hero and anti-hero and his Odyssey symbolises every great human adventure, made of uncertain pilgrimages, hopes and challenges, falls and new starts. When we traverse The Odyssey, immersing ourselves in Ulysses' adventures, we question not only our rapport with the hero today, seeking to discover how Ulysses' multiple identities can coexist in a single fantasy, but also the infinite complexity of our modern world.
Staged in 13 episodes performed by a drummer and actors from '1er Acte' – a programme instigated by the Théâtre National de Strasbourg –, Blandine Savetier leads the audience through this momentous saga, helping them to look beyond its epic style and see its modernity and its relevance to the present day.
