For its second edition, «Lumières!» invites French and international artists to take over the Parc de la Villette. Wander from installation to installation and discover artistic universes that combine visual illusion, hypnotic and playful installations, interactive experiences, immersive works...
This free tour, designed for the curious and contemporary art lovers, offers you a joyful end of year at La Villette!
With «Lumières!», La Villette produces accessible and enchanting art in an eco-responsible way by associating with Ludik Energie with the event this year, in order to share with the public new ways of producing electricity. Composed of installations using LED lighting, low-energy lasers and eco-compatible materials, the "Lumières!" project was designed to comply with national energy-saving guidelines.
Firefly Field is a hypnotic installation made of hundreds of small moving lights. By transforming the Triangle Meadow into a firefly field, the artwork takes visitors on a unique poetic experience.
Presented in collaboration with the Lyon Festival of Lights
An award-wining and world-renowned artist, this is the first time that Yasuhiro Chida presents his work in Paris with Aftereal. Through moving cables and UV lights projections, this visual and sound installation plays with our perception and enchants us with optic illusions.
This year, the great Christmas tree designed by La Villette’s building crews will be far from traditional! Indeed, for the first time, its lightning will be activated by bicycles put at the disposal of visitors. This playful interactive installation invites the public to think over the issue of energy consumption and to experiment with new ways of producing electricity.
Singing light is a playful and interactive installation: by singing on an evolving music basis, visitors can light up a Christmas tree. The intensity of brightness does not depend on sound level but on singing in tune!
Made up of a large multifaceted ball measuring almost 3 meters in diameter, and of multiple small balls of varying dimensions, Forbidden fruit, is a visual and sound installation that is presented in Paris for the first time, and that transforms space by taking spectators in a dreamy atmosphere.
An original artwork created for the La Villette Park in 2021, Constellation is once again featured this year in a modified and heightened version. By synchronizing laser projections and an original sound partition, this hypnotic work will light up the Ourq canal with hundreds of light beams.
Drawn in light by Ralf Westerhof is a magnificent 13 meters wide vehicle that reproduces the view from an Amsterdam street. Illuminated by a white LED light, this poetic and contemplative work will float above the Triangle Meadow for the first time in France.
Présented in collaboration with Light Art Collection of Amsterdam
In conjunction with the Festival of Lanterns, this unmissable family event is organized each year by Little Villette and will take place on December 10 this year. For Lights!, Les Poussières are providing the artistic direction of a participatory light artwork.
Little Villette celebrates the beginning of winter with a great festival of lanterns that will illuminate the park during a poetic and musical stroll.
