Alice Ripoll / Cie Suave

The Portuguese word “cria” has two literal meanings: ‘to create’ and ‘young’. In Brazil, it is used to express the favela you come from: ‘I am cria from Complexo’. With CRIA, the choreographer Alice Ripoll combines these social, vital and affective interpretations into a rhythmic and sensual piece. Ten dancing bodies establish relationships of seduction and emotion. Their movements grow to a mix of funk and contemporary music inspired by Dancinha (‘little dance’), an urban dance style from Rio de Janeiro.

After her performance Suave presented at the 100% festival, Alice Ripoll returns with her group to celebrate life as a state of carefulness.
