Presentation
The joyous vitality of the young English choreographic scene, condensed into a selection of five pieces presented by the London centre The Place. Unbridled creativity, to the sounds of funk, soul and jazz.
The Place is one of the most dynamic and innovative dance centres in Europe. At the invitation of La Villette, it is taking over the Salle Boris Vian for an evening presented by Jean-Daniel Broussé, the up-and-coming French circus artist from across the Channel. On the programme: humour (English, of course) and five short pieces to showcase the talent, creativity and diversity of British dance. And to discover a generation that draws on a wide range of styles, from hip-hop to contemporary dance and kathak. Choreographer Kesha Raithatha has seized on this dance from northern India to forge a new vocabulary, which she will preview in a solo performance. Fresh from The Place has also chosen to showcase the SAY company, which injects the energy of concerts into its choreographic work, and Jamaal Burkmar, which orchestrates a big bang between music and movement to imagine the formation of the universe. Boundless ambition and joy, just what you need for an unforgettable evening. The place to be!
