Choreographer Benjamin Millepied and composer Nico Muhly meet again at the top. Two artists that go way back, working together on a novel creation.
It is a long-standing partnership that will certainly leave its mark on Art History in the beginning of this century. Two creators bonded together by friendship and the same open and transversal vision. For over twenty years, New-York-based Nico Muhly has been deploying his composing and mixing talents in the vast field of post-minimalist music with operas, ballets, orchestra pieces, chamber and choir ensembles. He is also a frequent collaborator of the most ambitious fringe figures of the pop scene (Sufjan Stevens, Björk, Anohni). Following a brilliant journey as a dancer with the New York City Ballet, Benjamin Millepied founded the L.A Dance Project in 2011, a company with which he has since created a number of works acclaimed around the world. The choreographer weaves a dialogue between ballet’s classicism and contemporary dance’s boldness. Since they met in 2006, the two artists frequently worked together, notably on the ballets Triade (2008) and Clear, Loud, Bright, Forward (2015) at the National Opera of Paris. Their much-awaited new creation is one of this season’s main events.
